PATTERN DICTIONARY - SANKUZUSHI
SANKUZUSHI
Sankuzushi (三崩し) is a traditional Japanese pattern where three rectangles are arranged in alternating tile-like patterns both vertically and horizontally.
It is classified among the traditional patterns known as Kissho Monyo.
The name Sankuzushi derives from its resemblance to 'sangi,' small wooden square bars used as calculators until about 450 years ago.
The arrangement of these bars vertically and horizontally to represent numbers creates a visually striking pattern, thus giving rise to the name 'sangi-kuzushi' or 'sankuzushi'.
